The Western New York Environmental Alliance (WNYEA) is a coalition of independent organizations that collectively represents the environmental voice for the Western New York (WNY) Region, creating a virtual town square for all things green in Western New York. With more than 100 member organizations, affiliates and supporters, the WNYEA wants to ensure that the environment is the key factor in local and regional planning.
How We Work
The WNYEA works by creating a consensus around important environmental issues and policies. It takes action through its advocacy process, where member organizations raise action items that the Board of Directors votes on for the annual Action Agenda. The Action Agenda serves as our road map for advocacy and discussions in that year.
WNYEA always welcomes new members, affiliates, and supporters to participate in our shared agenda for action. Learn more about joining the WNYEA here.

CAMPAIGNS AND PROJECTS
Our Outer HarborYou never know what you will find on Buffalo's Outer harbor. Preserving this valuable public land and shorelines, and helping to make sure that our region adopts green strategies for public enjoyment and climate resilience is a primary goal of our Outer Harbor Campaign. |
Niagara River RamsarThe Niagara River Corridor has been given a rare distinction: it is recognized as a Wetland of International Importance under the Ramsar Convention, a global treaty supporting the conservation and sustainable use of wetlands and related waters. Through years of work by a bi-national committee, the Niagara River received this designation in 2019. |
